World Art Day - Can you imagine the world without art?

World Art Day is celebrated each year on April 15th, believed to be the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci. It was proclaimed at the 40th session of UNESCO’s General Conference in 2019, and is celebrated to promote awareness of creative activities worldwide. It also honors the contributions of artists and their impact on society.

Can you imagine a world without art? Ancient buildings without their beautiful frescoes? The walls of your home without paintings? Or even your favorite T-shirt without the funny print that made you choose it in the first place? Art can take many forms. It can be bold, funny, strange, or soft — but one thing is certain: it always comes from the heart.

Art lives within all of us, yet somehow, over time, we lose the simplicity we once had in our connection to it. Maybe because we want to meet expectations, because we try to perfect everything we create, or because we believe we simply don’t have the talent for it.

World Art Day is a perfect moment to slow down and create something — whatever that looks like for you.

Because art can be simple, and it can begin with just a small idea.
