Why I create coloring rituals

Why I create coloring rituals

I’ve never been a coloring artist, yet I create line art for coloring.

I’ve been drawing since I was little, and during my teenage years drawing became my little space, my grounding force. It gave me a place to recharge, and a space where I could express my feelings. Sometimes I could sit for hours just to finish a drawing.

I always created with graphite or charcoal, and I rarely used any colors. People often asked me why my drawings were black and white. And my answer was so simple: it gives people space to imagine the colors behind the drawings.

During that time, to be honest, I was also always so shy to share my art, and I’ve only become more confident about it in the past few years. But today, while coloring, I realized something: my reason was never to share what I do, it was to give others the opportunity to create too.

Over the years, I realized that creating something with my own hands gave me the opportunity to calm down, or even to feel anger when I needed to. It has always been my way of expressing what I feel. And I would love to give that same opportunity to others.

I believe that in this busy life, we all need to find our own small rituals — to quiet the mind and find our way back to ourselves.

I hope you’ll find something here that helps you create something meaningful by adding your own colors, and allows you to feel whatever you need to feel. Or maybe, just by reading this, you’ll begin to find your why.

With love,
Monika
