Mariposart as an international brand

Mariposart as an international brand

As you may already know, I love running. During my morning run today, I felt unusually energized. Running often gives me space to think, and somewhere between the empty streets and the rhythm of my steps, I realized I wanted to write about something I rarely talk about: why I decided to build Mariposart as an international brand, even though English is not my native language.

I was born in Hungary, and my native language is Hungarian. But from a very young age, I felt like I would speak another language when I was older. To be honest, it didn't seem like a reality when, at around the age of 12, I almost failed my English class. I hated learning English in school, and for many years I was afraid to speak it. But somehow, this little seed stayed with me through the years — the feeling that one day it would happen.

I was 26 years old when I first moved to another country and had to speak English every day. It was exhausting. Since then, I have visited many places, moved to Bali, and realized that I now use English more than my native language. Hungarian is actually considered one of the hardest languages to learn as a non-native speaker. If you ever feel curious, I recommend learning a few words or sentences — it's fun, and studies suggest that learning Hungarian is great exercise for the brain.

But back to why I started Mariposart as an international brand. I believe creativity, emotions, dreams, and personal growth connect us regardless of where we come from. We all experience moments of self-doubt, hope, courage, and change. I wanted Mariposart to be a place where those shared experiences could meet.

Even though I had no idea how it would happen when I was younger, and life took me in different directions for many years, that dream never completely left me. I simply wasn't paying enough attention to it. It took me many years to get here and finally start spreading my wings through Mariposart.

I wrote this down because maybe it can be a reminder to you too. If someone who almost failed her English class at the age of twelve can one day build an international creative brand in a language that isn't her own, then maybe some of the dreams you've been carrying are not as impossible as they seem.

And I truly wish that for you.

With love,
Monika
